Istiqlal Mosque is a national mosque of Indonesia, located in Central Jakarta. Istiqlal Mosque. Istiqlal is the biggest mosque in South Asia and open for public on 1978. The construction of this mosque was initiated by the first president of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno. This mosque can accommodate more than two hundred people.

Beside for Moslem worship activity, this mosque also used for headquarters of several Indonesia Moslem organizations, social activity, and general activity. This mosque is one of interesting place for tourist in Jakarta. Most tourists who come are domestic tourists and international Moslem tourists. Non-Moslem also can visit this mosque after have simple brief abaout Islam and Istiqlal Mosque, although is very limited and must be accompanied by a guide.
